Fundamental kinetic processes in the CO2 laser
Abstract
Kinetic processes fundamental to the CO2 laser are reviewed. A simple description of the electrical discharge physics in an electron-beam pre-ionized CO2 laser is given along with a discussion of electron distribution functions and inelastic excitation rates relevant to this laser. Theoretical methods are considered for calculating the vibrational kinetics in the laser and the agreement between theory and experimental measurements is discussed.
