Convective heat transfer of a bounded jet flow in a centrifugal force field
Abstract
The paper reports results of experiments performed to study the effects of centrifugal forces on convective heat transfer in a channel with a gas screen at large temperature gradients. Heat transfer between a hot air jet and a coaxial rotational flow has been studied, and it is found that centrifugal forces in a rotational flow with a negative temperature gradient cause the flow to stratify into temperature layers and reduce the amount of heat transfer. It is suggested that cold rotational flow be used to protect the internal surfaces of tubes from high temperature flow.
