Generalized optical transformations
Abstract
Several signal processing applications of space variant optical processors are described. These processors use combined geometrical transformations and optical transforms to produce a generalized optical processor with an increased flexibility and repertoire of practical features, including scale and rotational invariant correlation. Among topics discussed are Mellin transforms, scale invariant correlation, image processing using a matched spatial filter, Doppler signal processing, joint transform signal correlator, one-dimensional and two-dimensional joint transform correlators, frequency plane Doppler processors (analog modules involving continuous wave signals and computer generated holograms), and rotational invariant correlation.
