A quadrant avalanche detector for laser applications
Abstract
A prototype quadrant avalanche detector array using fiber optics has been developed for laser tracking applications. The design incorporates a detector-preamplifier module, a fiber-bundle light-pipe, and a temperature compensation unit. Attention is given to performance characteristics (losses due to the fiber bundle, and typical noise voltage) and overall NEPs of less than 2 x 10 to the -13th W/Hz to the 1/2 are found.
