Field intensity studies in the case of air-ground telemetry lines, taking into account the ground profile
Abstract
The objective of the reported investigations is the design of 'diversity' systems which utilize more than one frequency. The physical parameters which affect the field intensity characteristics in the VHF and UHF range are examined and a description is presented of the results of a computational program which provides a graphical representation of the field intensity. The program makes it possible to indicate the effects of the ground, the ground profile, the atmosphere, and the antenna characteristics. The diagrams can be used as a basis for the design of space diversity systems for concrete applications. A comparison of experimental and calculated field intensity values shows the applicability of the discussed wave propagation model.
