International Cryogenic Engineering Conference, 6th, Grenoble, France, May 11-14, 1976, Proceedings
Abstract
Recent advances in applications of superconductivity to various fields are outlined, with particular reference to cryogenic instrumentation, superconducting materials, and superconductive power systems. The discussion covers refrigeration above and below 1 K; the design of rotating machinery for operation at liquid helium temperature which will form the basis for superconductive power generation; superconducting magnets and levitation problems; and cryocables and superconducting transmission lines. Other topics of interest include losses in superconductors, thermal insulation, and cryopumping.
