Modeling of hydrodynamic processes in the atmospheres of the giant planets
Abstract
A model is proposed for the hydrodynamic processes that arise in the lower atmospheric layers of the giant planets under the action of solar radiation and internal heat sources. For a specific set of parameters, the model is capable of interpreting the visible banded structure of the Jovian and Saturn surfaces and also some features of their differential rotation. The model can be used to obtain estimates of the depth of the Jovian atmosphere.
