Low-inductance superconducting quantum interferometer with two bridge contacts
Abstract
The paper describes the design of a low-inductance SQUID completely fabricated by means of planar vacuum deposition technology. The two bridge contacts are deposited simultaneously over a mask. The method of measuring the main characteristics of the device is described. Considerable improvement of the amplitude of the voltage oscillations as a function of the external magnetic field was achieved. A special device for measuring the voltage-current and voltage-field characteristics is described, which provides a convenient way of observing the variation of the characteristics as temperature or magnetic field are varied. A device made by the process described endured repeated measurements in liquid helium and maintained its characteristics over 2-3 months.
