Optical erasure of holograms in lithium niobate crystals
Abstract
The non-Bragg erasure of holograms stored in LiNbO3 crystals, using a coherent light beam was studied experimentally. Lattice decay is shown to be of exponential nature, the time constant decreasing in inverse proportion to the light intensity. A nonmonotonic dependence of the time constant on the holographic-lattice constant was observed. Possible mechanisms of optical erasure are examined.
