Certain aspects of the production of high-energy ions in a turbulent current-carrying plasma
Abstract
Experiments were conducted to investigate the formation of high-energy ions in a current discharge, associated with turbulent heating of the plasma and the development of ion-acoustic instability. Experimental parameters were the following: a helium plasma density of 5-15 x 10 to the 12th/cu cm; a discharge current of not greater than 1.5 kamps; an electric field strength in the plasma of 0.1-0.7 W/cm; a strength of the confining magnetic field of 8-16 kOe.
