Effect of initial dimension of laser-produced plasma on ionization and recombination
Abstract
The paper examines the effect of the size of a blob of laser-produced plasma on the properties of multicharged-ion emission. It is shown that for ions of each charge number there is an initial plasma size with which the greatest output of ions with a given charge is observed. This situation arises because an optimum ratio between plasma lifetime and ionization and recombination time must be achieved in order to obtain effective ionization and recombinationless discharge of ions.
