Relative equilibria of a satellite gyrostat in the restricted threebody problem
Abstract
The problem of the pointing stability of a satellitegyrostat at any one of either the rectilinear or triangular libration points of the restricted threebody problem is considered for the case when the relative angular velocity of the rotor is constant and a force moment is applied to the rotor relative to its axis, securing a constant value for the projection of the absolute rotor angular velocity on its axis of rotation. Sufficient conditions for gyrostat pointing stability are given.
