Residential energy demand analysis: Data and methodology
Abstract
An energy system and optimization model has been used for technology assessment and policy analysis by the Energy Research and Development Administration. Most supply technologies and end-use conversion devices are characterized in the model. Extension of the model to incorporate a more detailed characterization of end-use devices, utilizing systems (e.g., housing type and class of insulation), and use factors is needed to assess conservation research and development options. This paper describes the first stage of these extensions to energy end-use demands in the residential sector. Upon completion of this work, extension to commercial, industrial and transportation sectors will be pursued.
