Noise stability of discrete-modulation optical communication lines
Abstract
A method is set forth for evaluating the noise stability of discrete optical communication channels on the basis of an energy parameter. Formulas are given for calculating the first two moments of the distribution in the algorithm for optimal discrimination of signals at the output of the photodetector. The analysis is carried out for both heterodyne and direct reception.
