Effect of detuning of the input network of a tripler with an unloaded circuit on conversion efficiency
Abstract
Since the incorporation of an unloaded circuit into a varactor frequency multiplier (tuned to the intermediate harmonic) produces greater conversion efficiency at constant varactor q, it is proposed that the unloaded circuit will also reduce the effect of detuning of the input network on conversion efficiency. This supposition is investigated using a varactor frequency tripler with an unloaded circuit, tuned to the second harmonic, as an example.
