Aspect scattering of short-wave radio signals on artificial ionospheric nonuniformities
Abstract
Tentative results of a study of field-aligned scattering (FAS) on artificially fashioned ionospheric irregularities, with reception of short-wave radio signals over the horizon from remote broadcasting stations, are reported. The appearance of plasma scattering irregularities over a broad spectral scale in the F layer of the ionosphere in response to bombardment of the ionosphere by powerful RF emissions is studied. Data on the relative location of emitting and receiving stations, the artificial spread F layer produced, and propagation conditions are cited.
