Once again on optimization of a signal-filter pair
Abstract
The problem of the optimization of a signal and a filter in the presence of noise and interfering multipath reflections is considered. Convergence of a frequently used optimum search iterative procedure is proved. In the case of stationary noise, a necessary and sufficient condition emerges, under which the optimal signal-filter pair is matched. When the condition is met, there is no need to use the iteration, since the optimal signal and filter can be determined analytically. For the case when the condition is not met, recommendations are given regarding choice of an initial approximation permitting more reliable iterative search for a global optimum.
