Design of a flexible phase reversal modulation correlator
Abstract
A digital correlator is described for use with intrapulse phase reversal modulated signals. The length and content of the binary sequence used can be altered at will from the front panel which adds considerably to its flexibility. It is particularly suited to ionospheric sounding but can find application in many areas of finite sequence correlation, e.g. radar. The paper discusses the reasons leading to the choice of technology, particularly where cost and difficulty of meeting the specification with readily procured components was in question.
