Analysis of the operation of an oscillatory system in the regime of gas-discharge plasma excitation
Abstract
The behavior of a self-oscillating system exciting a gas-discharge plasma is investigated, with the response time of the gas ionization and deionization processes and the effect of plasma space potential taken into account, with the object of finding conditions favoring highly efficient energy transfer to the plasma and of estimating the deleterious effect of the plasma on the stability of the frequency and amplitude of the oscillations. The effect of the gas discharge gap on a high-frequency oscillator circuit is approximated by means of a system of differential equations describing the behavior of the self-oscillating system, the solution appearing in the form of harmonic oscillations (in steady state) with amplitude and frequency governed by the oscillator and plasma parameters and by plasma-oscillator coupling.
