A nonsimilar movingwall boundarylayer problem
Abstract
The solution is obtained for the problem of a boundary layer on a moving wall, where the wall velocity is constant and the outer edge velocity is proportional to x, and for the counterpart problem, where the edge velocity is constant and the wall velocity is proportional to x. The constantwall velocity problem has a solution which is identical to that given by Rott (1956) as the limiting steady case of a twodimensional stagnation point on an oscillating wall. The constantedge velocity solution provides a second numerical solution to a nonsimilar moving wall problem with which to test approximate methods of solving movingwall boundary layer problems.
