A method for designing spectral analyzers
Abstract
The paper describes a method for designing a spectral analyzer of structural (particularly gas turbine engine parts) vibration data based on the approximation of a sinusoidal reference vibration by means of a series of Walsh-Fourier functions. The analyzer has the following advantages: (1) it permits tracking of the first harmonic of the signal and measurement of harmonics of assigned multiplicity; (2) it permits measurement of amplitude as well as phase spectra; (3) it assures greater accuracy than that attained by devices with filters; and (4) it can be realized on integrated microcircuits with the use of tunable reactive elements.
