Nuclear structure study of 141Nd, 143Nd, and 143Pm by 13C-induced reactions on 142Nd
Abstract
Angular distributions at a bombarding energy of 67.5 MeV were measured for the 142Nd(13C, 14C)141Nd, 142Nd(13C, 12C)143Nd, and 142Nd(13C, 12B)143Pm reactions. Spectroscopic factors were obtained by comparing finite-range recoil distorted-wave Born-approximation calculations with the data. Spin assignments were made for the nucleus 141Nd. The usefulness of heavy-ion induced transfer reactions in preferentially populating high spin states in the final nucleus is discussed. The distorted-wave Born-approximation predictions are shown to be in good agreement with the experimental angular distributions except in cases of poor angular momentum matching in the entrance and exit channels. NUCLEAR REACTIONS 142Nd(13C, 14C), (13C, 12C), (13C, 12B), E=67.5 MeV; measured σ(Ec,θ). 141Nd, 143Nd, 143Pm levels, assigned Jπ, deduced C2S, DWBA analyses. Enriched target. Resolution 70 keV; θlab=30°-75°, Δ θ=3°.
