Some problems in electromagnetic diffraction by a right angle wedge
Abstract
Exact solutions are obtained to several diffraction problems in which localized sources move in the vicinity of a perfectly conducting, right-angle wedge. The technique involved is illustrated by first considering a parallel incident plane wave, and thereafter by treating a charged line in uniform parallel motion and finally dealing with a point charge moving obliquely. The corresponding boundary value problems are individually reformulated in terms of singular integral equations that characterize the currents on the wedge faces. A determination of these currents thus underlies the procedure for obtaining the electromagnetic fields. The representations for the electromagnetic fields in each of the problems takes the form of contour integrals whose properties can be ascertained by suitable manipulations.
