Stability of convective motion in a plane vertical fluid layer with permeable boundaries
Abstract
A solution is presented to the problem concerning the stability of the steady-state convective motion of a viscous incompressible fluid in the duct between permeable vertical planes heated to varying temperature in the presence of a uniform transverse blowing. The study has numerically evaluated the stability boundaries for different values of Prandtl number and Peclet number characterizing the intensity of the transverse motion. The results point to a substantial effect of the transverse blowing both on the hydrodynamical mechanism of instability and on the instability due to the enhancement of thermal waves in the flow.
