Observations of the plasmapause and diffuse aurora
Abstract
Simultaneous auroral and whistler data from SANAE, Antarctica, show that the separation between the equatorward boundary of the diffuse aurora and the plasmapause lies between zero and 0.25 L. There is also some evidence to suggest that auroral precipitation occurs, at least partly, on closed field lines.
