Quantum field theory in curved spacetime
Abstract
Recent theoretical developments indicate that the presence of gravity (curved spacetime) can give rise to important new quantum effects, such as cosmological particle production and blackhole evaporation. These processes hint at intriguing new relations between quantum theory, thermodynamics and spacetime structure and encourage the hope that a better understanding of a full quantum theory of gravity may emerge from this approach.
