Front-to-back coupling factor for large earth-station antennas
Abstract
The coupling factor between a large earth-station antenna and a small antenna located in its geometrical shadow is of current interest since future satellite systems may require an earth station to operate with its entrance and satellite links sharing the same frequency band, thus creating the possibility of interference. In this paper, a relatively simple formula is derived for estimating the worst case value of this coupling factor, and its predictions are compared to measured data taken on a 30-meter dish.
