Computation of numerical approximation functions for reflection and conversion factors of the lower ionosphere in the myriametric-waves region
Abstract
The effect of the cosine of the angle of incidence on the elements of the reflection matrix is represented with the aid of approximation functions. Frequency effects are illustrated for exponential models with various electron density gradients, taking into account day and night ionospheric models. An investigation is conducted regarding the effect of the variation of Chapman layer parameters. Limits concerning the applicability of the approximation functions are also examined, giving attention to three cases in which the employed compensation computation procedure cannot be used.
