Noiseless microwave receivers for satellite communications
Abstract
The characteristics of a noiseless receiver which is to be used in a satellite communications system are examined, taking into account an employment on a satellite and in a ground station. The noise properties of microwave amplifiers are considered, giving attention to amplifiers with bipolar transistors, amplifiers with field effect transistors, amplifiers with tunnel diodes and capacitance diodes, and the noise characteristics of mixers. Certain problems concerning the further development of tunnel diode amplifiers, mixers, and field effect transistors are also discussed.
