The wedge calibrator - A measuring device for calibrating autocollimator reading aids
Abstract
Design of a special calibrating device for aiding precision reading of small angles with an autocollimator is described. The divided wedge is made from smooth slabs of fused silica and a wedge with a small refraction angle is bonded to them, after which the unit is aluminized. A small angle generator used in the work is described and illustrated. Calibration of autocollimator reading accessories to enhance speed and accuracy is demanded by present tasks. The effect of errors is analyzed and wedge calibrator parameters are formulated and discussed. The wedge calibrator is also recommended for telemetrological comparisons of angle measure standards.
