A method for measuring gas-stream temperature using two thermocouples
Abstract
A mathematical model is presented describing the convective heating of a thermocouple joint in a gas stream in the steady state, and considering radiative and conductive heat losses from the free ends of the thermocouple. A method for determining gas-stream temperature is proposed based on the use of two thermocouples differing in the degree of blackness of the material of the joint. The method is tested in the determination of the temperature of a propane-air flame propagating past a cylindrical coal specimen.
