Frequency agility radar range calculation using number of independent pulses
Abstract
A method is devised for accurate calculations of improvements in radar range facilitated by frequency agility, utilizing the concept of independent pulses. The number of independent target pulses or clutter pulses is calculated using a combinatorial technique, and based on the theory of correlation diameter. Two cases dealt with are: (1) decorrelation only from frequency agility (no fixed frequency decorrelation), and (2) combined effect of frequency agility and natural decorrelation. A combinatorial model involving withdrawal of balls of specified colors from an urn is employed.
