Sun position sensors using light selectors
Abstract
A simplified radiation detector with a strictly limited field of vision is described, which can be applied as a sensor for determining sun positions. The basic element of the detector is a laminated or fibrous light selector, used in combination with fiber light guides and Se photocells. Characteristics of light selectors of both types are discussed, along with the design and operating principles of the device. The detector has no moving parts and its field of vision may extend to 360 degrees.
