Gain optimization for a gasdynamic carbon dioxide laser
Abstract
The present paper presents the results of a numerical solution to an optimization problem aimed at obtaining maximum gain values for a laser mixture, composed of CO2, N2, He, and H2O, flowing in a supersonic nozzle with a linearly varying ratio of the cross-sectional area of the supersonic region to the throat area. Optimization was carried out with respect to some basic nozzle parameters, assuming one-dimensional flow of the relaxing gas.
