Bounds on aperiodic cross-correlation for binary sequences
Abstract
Binary sequences with good cross-correlation properties are needed for multiple-access communication systems. Since the aperiodic autocorrelation function is more thoroughly studied, the paper presents results which relate the mean-squared value of the aperiodic cross-correlation function for periodic binary sequences to their aperiodic autocorrelation function. Bounds on the mean-squared aperiodic cross-correlation are determined in terms of the mean-squared aperiodic autocorrelation. Two inequalities for the aperiodic cross-correlation parameter are derived as an upper and a lower bound on the sum of the squares of the aperiodic cross-correlation values. Applications of relevant formulas are discussed.
