Unsteady vibrations of a gyroscope with an elastically damping coupling between the rotor's inner gimbal and the base
Abstract
During run-up of the gyro rotor, the forced angular vibrations of the gyro may become substantial. In the present paper, it is shown analytically that the amplitudes of the unsteady vibrations of the gyro gimbals in the passage through the resonance point can be effectively reduced by using an elastically damping coupling with friction of the hysteresis type. The analytical results are verified experimentally.
