Indeterminacy and determinacy conditions in asynchronous systems with independent feedback loops
Abstract
A method is proposed for the analytical representation of the conditions of definiteness and indefiniteness which may arise at the inputs of an asynchronous system when an initial set of stable values of the signals changes to a final set of stable values. The method is devised for asynchronous systems designed of potential elements whose functions can be realized by means of tree patterns built of AND, OR, or NOT elements. The analytical representation is based on certain directional transition functions (characterizing the changes in the signal values). The directional transition functions obtained are useful for developing algorithms for testing asynchronous circuits, or for fault detection in logic or sequential circuits.
