The dependence of ionospheric absorption coefficient on solar flare class and zenith angle.
Abstract
The effect of solar X-ray flare intensity on the ionospheric absorption coefficient is examined. The analysis is limited to the maximum phase of each flare examined, accompanied by maximum enhancement of X-ray intensity and by maximum absorption increase, and the dependence of the absorption coefficient on flare class (C,M,X) and zenith angle is taken into account. The calculated absorption coefficients characterize only the dispersion of waves with frequencies 3-10 MHz on electrons formed in the photoionization process.
