Power consumption in FDM channel bank RC active filters
Abstract
A method for reducing the power consumption of RC active filters used in FDM channel bank filtering is proposed. The method is based on the choice of the optimal synthesis method taking account of the type of operational amplifier and its bias. It is shown that power consumption in RC active filters can be reduced by acting on the signal to noise ratio, since in this manner it is possible to reduce the magnitude of the output signal voltage. Considering the fact that in the overall channel there are two filters and assuming that they contribute to half the noise, an acceptable value of the signal to noise ratio is 10 to the -7th (in terms of square wave voltages).
