Active topology
Abstract
The paper starts from the recognition that the efforts in generalizing the topology which appeared in the past two decades or so have not led to a complete result. The cause of this fact will be found in that graph theory, which has been a powerful tool in elementary circuits, has become a hindrance in further development. In order to overcome these difficulties, the author introduces the circuit-theoretical concepts grounding the new topology, such as the connector, the extreme circuit, and so on. The use of universal parameters in describing 2-port elements removes also many restrictions of the graph-based topology. Finally, an illustrative example is given for illuminating the new ideas.
