Radiation from cosmic blast waves.
Abstract
A study is made of the dynamics of blast waves, of their internal structure, and of the bremsstrahlung radiation from the shocked plasma under conditions where the cooling time is longer than the expansion time. Models appropriate for the interpretation of the X-ray sources associated with supernova remnants and with the explosive activity of the radio galaxies in clusters of galaxies are computed and discussed. The inverse Compton emission from continuously injected relativistic electrons is included.
