Electric energy and noise
Abstract
Definitions, measurements, characteristics, criteria, propagation, limiting levels, and reduction methods of noise are discussed. Some typical power station equipment is considered, such as gas reducing valves, steam venting, fans, motors, turboalternators, transformers, turbojets, and high voltage lines. The trend to incorporate some acoustic absorption materials in the architecture of machine rooms in Belgium is reviewed. Ideas concerning the necessity of preliminary acoustical engineering studies for a new installation are also presented.
