Polyphosphazenes: Thermomechanical transitions
Abstract
The dynamic mechanical behavior (approximately 1 Hz) of four linear phosphazene homopolymers, two copolymers and two physical blends with overall composition approximating the copolymers, was examined between -180 and 250 C in an inert atmosphere. Crystal/melt, crystal/crystal, glass and glassy-state transitions were documented and the effect of high temperature on the transitions was investigated. A glassy-state transition in each fluoroalkoxypolyphosphazene was attributed to motion of the substituents.
