Theory of waveguides: Techniques for the solution of waveguide problems
Abstract
Questions of electromagnetic theory and its application to waveguides are considered, taking into account Maxwell's equations, solutions of the wave equation, and parallel plate and rectangular guide equivalences. Questions of electromagnetic wave propagation in straight waveguides are investigated along with aspects of wave propagation in a corrugated and loaded waveguide and the propagation characteristics in curved, twisted, or tapered waveguides. Attention is given to cylindrical rods, posts, probes, and diaphragms in a rectangular waveguide. Other topics discussed are related to multiple diaphragms and gratings and to waveguide junctions.
