UV gas laser investigations
Abstract
The development of the first table-top E-beam excitated laser and the quasi-CW operation of the Ar-N2 laser with an output pulse of 150 ns is described. Using the table-top E-gun, an output energy of 125 mJ was extracted from a 100 cc Ar-N2 laser with an overall efficiency of 0.05%. Peak laser powers of 10MW and 400 MW were also obtained in a 25 ns pulse from Ar-N2 and Xe, respectively, using the Physics International Pulserad 535 E-gun.
