Cyclic triaxial test equipment to evaluate dynamic properties of frozen soils
Abstract
To establish the response interaction between a soil deposit and a structure during an earthquake, two soil properties are required: (1) the dynamic shear modulus, and (2) the damping factor. The results of a research program to develop test equipment to evaluate the shear moduli and damping factors of frozen soils for use in ground response analyses during earthquakes, and develop a research plan to investigate parameters that might influence shear moduli and damping factors of frozen soils are presented.
