MTI performance - Specifications and testing
Abstract
Phenomena influencing improvement factor (I), the customary measure of performance for MTI radar, are examined. The value of I obtained varies according to the intensity and statistical distribution of clutter; moreover, specification of I should be related to the probabilities of detection and false alarm. Maximum, average, and minimum values of I can be obtained via a mathematical model for a given MTI receiver, and these can serve as a guideline to the user in selecting an MTI radar for a given task.
