Vibrational gyroscopes
Abstract
Operational principles of oscillator- and rotor-type vibrational gyroscopes are described together with the differentiating and integrating operational modes of the rotor-type device. Basic designs of the rotor-type device are outlined which result from the system of equations describing the motion of a generalized model of a dynamically adjustable gyroscope. The designs are analyzed taking into account angular and linear deformations of elastic elements, acceleration of translation, external vibrations, and instrumental errors introduced during production. A mathematical description is given for the more common oscillator-type devices used in autopilots. Areas of practical application are discussed, and basic problems are indicated whose solution will help improve the accuracy of vibrating gyroscopes.
