Abstract
The rotation rate of the earth has long been used as a standard test input in the evaluation of inertial sensors. State-of-the-art sensors are on the border of the range of sensitivity and resolution to be able to measure the earth's rotational variations. This paper investigates the required performance levels of the sensors that would be capable of measuring real-time rotation variations of the earth.
