Geodetic and dynamical properties of planets
Abstract
The state-of-the-art of planetary dynamics and geodesy is reviewed along with sources of planetary data. Factors considered include: gravity fields; shape and topography; planetary rotations; and planetary interiors. Construction of theoretical models for Jupiter and Saturn is briefly discussed in terms of the impact of Pioneer and Mariner missions.
